The Greater Cincinnati Chapter tailgate has been named the second best tailgate overall at The University of Alabama by USA Today and the Tuscaloosa News! This is quite an honor as there are hundreds of tailgates on campus on any given GameDay.
As many of you that have attended our tailgate on GameDay know, this is a community tailgate where everyone pitches in and helps with the food/drink. This year, we've been fortunate to have such great caterers like Ajian Sushi, Joe's Italian, the Peach Cobbler Factory, and several guest chefs like Walt Griess and Pete Zimmer. Virginia Mapes (we call her VA) handles the intake at the blue tent, signs up new members and gives out name tags. That's where you can play The Big Board to support our scholarships. John Saucier is our tailgate manager. Mattie Stevenson is our bartender. Jonathan and Michael puts the tents up and takes them down. And then we have all of the volunteers that bring food, coolers, ice, drinks, and help us keep the tailgate going on GameDay.
The reporter was most impressed by our 'Taste of Home' theme. That means we serve Skyline chili, goetta, Graeter's ice cream, Grippo's chips, Ale8, and drinks from back home. Yes, even Brown County's famous peanut bars make our tailgate so unique and appreciated by our UA students from Greater Cincinnati. It's their tailgate!
Our LSU tailgate with be our last big event for the 2023 football season. Come play some corn hole, watch TV, sit and meet a stranger, and eat and drink. It's in the middle of everything on campus! We put names and home towns on every name tag. Come meet a neighbor!
