Lou Mays, CrimsonAti's president, was named the Volunteer of the Year by the National Alumni Association of The University of Alabama. The award was given at the Alumni Leadership Conference on July 15, 2022 in Tuscaloosa, AL. Lou has been president of CrimsonAti since 2015. A retired professor/librarian from Southern State Community College, Lou is a Master Gardener and resides at Lake Waynoka.
This conference was the first held since the pandemic. Held annually by the National Alumni Association, the Leadership Conference is composed of chapter officers and officials of the National Alumni Association from all over the nation. Representatives come from the East Coast all the way to Hawaii. There are over 100 active alumni chapters at The University of Alabama. CrimsonAti was awarded the Chapter of the Year award at the 2018 conference.
