We Mourn the Loss of One of Our Own - Aidan Moncelle

Updated: Aug 15

Aidan was an active member of CrimsonAti and often visited our tailgate. He was a National Merit Finalist, majoring in mechanical engineering. His passion for space, flight, rocket and satellite propulsion, additive manufacturing and robotics made him one of Alabama's top students in engineering. He was Project Manager for the liquid fueled rocketry team at Alabama Rocketry Association. He was a summer intern at Argo Space in Los Angeles.

Aidan was one of those special students that comes along every once in a blue moon. He loved The University of Alabama. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family in Cincinnati. Aidan would have celebrated his 22nd birthday on October 28th this year. CrimsonAti will be making a donation to the Student Rocketry Support Fund on his birthday, lighting up the sky in memory of our friend Aiden.

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

And danced the skies of laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds--and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of--wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,

I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

Where never lark or even eagle, flew;

And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."

HIGH FLIGHT
