Admission and Scholarship Update

The fall semester is an exciting time for high school seniors as they begin making plans to attend college next year. For many students, receiving scholarship assistance is critical. Scholarships remain one of the strongest recruiting tools for The University of Alabama, particularly those awarded through the National Alumni Association's Scholarship Program.

Students can apply for admission to The University of Alabama using UA's admission application or using the Common App. The Common App is a national application which allows students to complete one application to apply to numerous colleges and universities at one time.

High school seniors wishing to apply for UA scholarships, including alumni and CrimsonAti scholarships, will apply through the admission application. When applying for admission, students will complete the resume section of the scholarship application where they will enter leadership, school, and community activities, as well as work experience. They will complete all of this before submitting their admission application. This process will increase the number of scholarship applications received by CrimsonAti for review in the spring.

September, October, November and December are crucial months in recruiting high school seniors.

  • Students should apply once they have all of their information together. To receive priority consideration for scholarship review, entering freshmen must apply and submit documentation by October 31 (first round consideration) or January 10 (final scholarship deadline) of their senior year.

  • The December ACT and SAT are the last test dates from which a score will be accepted for alumni scholarships.

  • To apply for admission to UA: 1) submit UA Admission or Common Application along with a non-refundable $40 application fee. 2) Transcript - have the high school send the most recent transcript to UA. 3) Standardized test score (optional for admission purposes but required for many scholarships)-have the testing agency send ACT and/or SAT scores directly to UA. 4) Additional documentation - submit any other required documentation requested from UA. 5) Questions - direct any questions to Kelly Watson, our local admissions recruiter or Cynthia Gevedon, CrimsonAti's New Student Recruitment Coordinator.

  • After admittance, an email will be sent to the student with their campus-wide identification (CWID) number and instructions to create their myBama account. Students should complete the 'Admitted Freshmen Next Steps' in their myBama account.

  • Once admitted, students will gain access to the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM) and have the opportunity to apply for additional competitive scholarships. Students must read the criteria of each scholarship on this application to determine if they are eligible, and then self-identify (check-the-box) in order to be considered for these scholarships. This application must be submitted along with all required documentation by January 10.

  • Current UA students should complete the "Current Student Scholarship Application" each year. The deadline for submission is March 1.

  • No changes can be made to applications after they are submitted.
