FACT: The University of Alabama has the nation's largest alumni based scholarship endowment program in the country! Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post to see exactly how you can apply for a scholarship!
We award endowed scholarships to freshmen and/or currently enrolled students annually. The Greater Cincinnati Endowed Scholarship was established in 2014. The first scholarships from this endowment were awarded in 2015 to Chase Merkel and Megan Huether. Since then, we have awarded at least one scholarship annually. First priority is given to entering freshmen graduating from a high school located within a fifty mile radius of Greater Cincinnati. Second priority of consideration is given to entering freshmen graduating from any other high school in Ohio.
We raised a total of $17,455 for all CrimsonAti endowed scholarships for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Including a 53% match of $9,251.15, the total balance for all CrimsonAti endowed scholarships is at $265,561.61.
To give to any of our CrimsonAti chapter scholarships, see below for ways to contribute to individual scholarship endowments. **Note: when giving online, please skip the first two blanks and begin with “My Gift to Alabama.”

But wait, there's more......

The Cusick Family Endowed Scholarship was established in 2020 by Dr. Brian and Jamie Cusick. Priority consideration is given to entering freshmen graduating from a high school in the Greater Cincinnati area. Financial need is a primary consideration for this scholarship.

And here's another one.....

In 2023, a fourth endowed scholarship, the Dunehew Family Endowed Scholarship, was established. Priority consideration is given to entering freshmen graduating from a high school in the Greater Cincinnati area. Preference will be given to students pursuing a STEM degree. This is a four-year renewable scholarship. This scholarship is fully endowed and tax deductible contributions can be made here: https://uanaa.link/Dunehew. Or just scan the QR code below to give:

We now have five endowed scholarships! In 2025, the Aidan Robert Moncelle Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created by the Moncelle family to memorialize their son, Aidan.

Aidan had a passion for rocketry and was president of the Alabama Rocketry Association at the time of his passing. This scholarship will support students majoring in engineering, especially those in the Alabama Rocketry Association. Here are some thank you messages from our previous recipients.

Scholarship fundraising at our events.

One way you can help support our scholarships is to play The Big Board. This game of luck is played during Alabama football games where we are having a Watch Party. We host Watch Parties for the opener, all SEC games, and all post-season games. We do not have Watch Parties for home non-league games, unless otherwise designated.
You can play The Big Board anytime it's available, as long as it's before kickoff. Half of the proceeds go to our scholarships if we fill up the Board. Winners are announced after every quarter of play. You do not have to be present to win. You can play from anywhere.
Corporate Gift Match:
Corporate matching gifts are a great way for Alabama alumni, parents and friends to maximize their contribution to CrimsonAti. Your contribution plus your corporate matching gift will increase the impact of your financial support. Also, your contribution will be recognized on your UA gift record and the Alumni Association’s Annual Donor Recognition Report. By taking advantage of your company’s matching gift potential, you will double or triple the impact of a contribution to our scholarships. If you are employed at local corporations like the ones below, you can double, or even triple, your scholarship contribution! For example, you give $100 and it is matched at 100% by your employer, that $200 contribution could be matched by the National Alumni Association anywhere from 50-75%! Here are just a FEW of the local employers that will match your gift.

How to Apply for a Scholarship:
The fall semester of a student’s senior year in high school is crucial. December 5th, 2025, is the priority date for the class of 2026 high school seniors to submit both the UA Application for Admission at apply.ua.edu and the UA Application for Scholarships via the myBama.ua.edu portal in order to receive consideration for scholarship review campus-wide. A prospective student must be admitted in order receive their myBama account.
The UA scholarship application process is a consolidated, centralized, electronic procedure used campus-wide by all departments including the CrimsonAti scholarships. Students must complete the scholarship application to be considered for any scholarship managed by the CrimsonAti scholarships. UA is currently Test Optional. Students can be admitted without a test score. There will be some excellent students who apply without a test score. A complete application for admission now consists of the online application, application fee, and transcript. Students have the option of having a test score included in the review or being considered without it. They will indicate that choice on the application for admission.
For children and/or grandchildren of UA alums, please click on this link for additional scholarship opportunities from the National Alumni Association: https://alumni.ua.edu/scholarships/naa-member-based-scholarships/
In order to qualify for these alumni scholarships, the parent/grandparent must be a member of the National Alumni Association. Not a member?: https://join.ua.edu/

Someone once asked how does the National Alumni Association afford to match every dollar raised by each alumni chapter? Funds from the sale of branded license plates in states that allow such plates are used for the match. That's why it's important to support our efforts in Ohio for an Alabama branded license plate: https://www.crimsonati.org/post/petition-for-an-alabama-branded-ohio-license-plate.
